What Type of Spotify Account Do You have?

The way to change your country on Spotify varies depending on whether you have a free or a premium account.

Free Account

If you have a free Spotify account, you can listen to music when you’re in a different country for up to 14 days. Thereafter, you will need to return to your home country or make a new account in your new locale.

To listen for 14 days, you need to change the appropriate setting.

To make the change, log in to your Spotify account on a web browser and go to Edit Profile > Country. You can select your country from a dropdown list. The country will only be visible if you’re physically there.

Premium Account

If you have a premium account, you do not need to change your country while travelling. You are not subject to the same 14-day restriction as a free account.

If you’re moving permanently, however, you will need to update your details.

To update your details, log in to your Spotify account page and go to Subscription > Update. You will need to enter your new payment details. The payment details must be linked to a financial institution in your new country.

You should consider upgrading to Spotify Premium if you have a free account. Sure, it costs money, but for many users, that’s money well spent.
