If you are getting issues in the Google Search Console which says “The author stylesheet specified in tag ‘style amp-custom’ is too long – the limit is 75000 bytes” or “The author stylesheet specified in tag ‘style amp-custom’ is too long – the limit is 50000 bytes” there is no need to worry about.
Today, I also got it on my search console and I found the solution after a little bit of effort. So, I am going to share the solution for it.
In my case, the problem was arising from “AMPforWP” plugin. I had activated CSS Optimization feature which is still in beta mode. It means it is not yet stable. So, what I did just disabled the CSS Optimization from settings of AMPforWP plugin and my pages were validated again on Search Console.
How to Disable CSS Optimization in AMPforWP plugin?
Step 1: Go to Settings tab of the AMPforWP plugin.
Step 2: Go to Performance Section. You will find relevant options there as shown in screenshot below:
Make sure that ‘Optimize CSS’ option is unticked. If it is already unticked, untick all minify and levarage browser caching option as well. After that validate your affected pages again on Search Console.
